“It’s very different from driving a car,” said Thomas Strömsnäs, second officer of the icebreaker Oden, who has been breaking ice on Oden since the winter of 1999-2000. “With a car, your focus is on staying on the road. Here, the focus is on finding the road. The focus is as far ahead as you can see, which often is not very far ahead. You have choices all the time.”
